Supporting SEND pupils with science
Saturday November 16, 2024 10:00am - 11:00am GMT
SEND Learners - tweaking practice to meet their needs.
There’s a lot of misconceptions around teaching learners with special educational needs. Different schools expect to see different things, sometimes things that don’t help the learners or the teacher! This (research informed) workshop aims to give you a range of strategies that you can apply to your own teaching to improve your practice and make your lessons more accessible (and keep your workload down).

SEND Science - Why?
Saturday November 16, 2024 11:30am - 12:30pm GMT

Teaching KS1-4 science with support from Oak National Academy
Saturday November 16, 2024 2:00pm - 3:00pm GMT
We are delighted to share the new science curriculum from Oak National Academy, developed by the Centre for Industry Education Collaboration (CIEC) and University of York Science Education Group (UYSEG). Oak’s new science curriculum covers the national curriculum with a full set of lessons developed from research evidence by experienced teachers and experts at the University of York. Teachers can access adaptable, sequenced resources that provide high-quality starting points for planning lessons to target common misconceptions and enhance pupils’ substantive and disciplinary knowledge, vocabulary, practical skills, mathematical proficiencies and understanding of scientific practices, whilst embracing diversity as a fundamental principle.
